Character.org certifies schools and districts at the state level that have developed and implemented an intentional, proactive, and comprehensive approach that embeds character into all aspects of the school life.
UCS is part of Place Network Schools. Place Network Schools is a collaborative network of rural K-12 schools that connect learning and communities to increase engagement, learner outcomes, and community impact through transformative place-based education.
On August 3, 2018, Governor Kay Ivey announced the 200 Alabama Bicentennial Schools. Each school received a $2,000 grant to support a year-long project designed to strengthen connections between campuses and their communities. UCS was one of the schools selected.
